UK Ancestry visa

If one of your grandparents was born in the UK and you are Commonwealth citizen you can apply for UK Ancestry visa which will be granted for 5 years.

Other key requirements for initial entry:

  • you’re over 17 years old;
  • you’re able to work and intend to take or seek employment in the UK;
  • you will be able to maintain and accommodate yourself and any dependants adequately without recourse to public funds.

Please note that you will need to apply online outside the UK for the initial entry;

After continuous period of 5 years in the UK in this capacity you will be eligible to apply for settlement. You will need to pass the Life in the UK test and demonstrate sufficient knowledge of English language. Also you must not be absent from the UK for a period of more than 180 days per year in any of the five consecutive years.
